Biography
Caitlin Casiello received her B.A. from Barnard College in 2011 with a focus on classical and medieval Japanese literature. For her M.A. in Regional Studies East Asia from Harvard University, she made a complete temporal shift to contemporary Japanese media with a thesis project on pornographic manga. In the combined program in Film and Media Studies and East Asian Languages and Literatures, Caitlin hopes to continue research on the performance of gender and sexuality in the Japanese media landscape. She is also interested in fan cultures, online spaces, and the influence of new media forms on social structures.
