What does it mean to hold the legacy of beloveds on changing formats? How do mourning and memory change across time and tech? How do neighborhoods, queer bars, and sweaters and scarves of loved ones now lost, hold ghosts? How do we let them go? Please Hold, a new experimental documentary by NY-based filmmaker and producer Alexandera Juhasz (The Watermelon Woman) engages with these questions through decades of activist media, two death bed videos, and the wisdom of many living “AIDS workers.” Juxtaposing multiple formats—from video and VHS to d Zoom—this is a love letter to activism and a roadmap to community building.

The filmmaker will be present for a conversation and Q&A with Yale’s Neta Alexander following the screening.
